PaintShop has been around a long time and you're 100% right that there have been versions that lagged way behind other programs but Corel seems to be dong a pretty good job now.
#Cookie run characters ancient for free
So again, sorry for the confusion and thanks for the correction! Good to see it's still kicking!Īlso forgot to mention, that all software can be downloaded and tried for free for a period. In my "defense" Corel did leave it for dead for years and got quite some flak for not updating it. I've known Aftershot since it's Bibble days and followed, when it was bought by Corel and renamed Aftershot. It shows when my hunt for a Capture NX2 replacement took place! I'm terrible sorry for my outdated remarks above! I suppose, when you come right down to it, I like Photoshop a little better than PaintShop but it's a close call for most actions and if a person is using Photoshop Elements they'll find PaintShop quite a bit more advanced and feature rich.Īnyway, everyone is different and other commenters are right, Lightroom and programs like PaintShop or Photoshop are not intended for the same purpose.
#Cookie run characters ancient upgrade
Just upgraded to X8 Ultimate a couple of months ago because Corel offered a very inexpensive upgrade from version 7. I've never cared for Lightroom but do use both Photoshop and PaintShop Pro. Not sure where Janoch is getting his information. A new version of Paintshop comes out just about every year. Version 2 of Aftershot came out in spring or summer of '14 and is frequently updated. very, very little have happened for years, if anything at all! I didn't get along with LR's photo cataloging aspect either - it was just not what I was used to - so I moved on.Īftershot is "dead". I haven't used Lightroom since v3.6 but it had pretty great image tools and it's RAW development was excellent albeit slow I would consider it to be a gold standard against which other programs are judged. I'm not really happy with it's photo management aspect, I still use Picasa for this function (for now.).

I have used both Aftershot Pro 1 and 2 for RAW development, and it's good enough but nothing really special the controls remind me of RAWTherapee for some reason.

I use PaintShop Pro 7 instead of Photoshop it's cheap and it does what I want it to do but it's more directed towards "photoshopping" - digitally adjusting photos, fixing blemishes and removing power lines, creating art with layers, etc it's not a good photo cataloging/management program IMO.Ĭorel has Aftershot Pro that is a direct competitor to Lightroom - they are both RAW developers that feature photo collection management and cataloging. I don't see PaintShop Pro and Lightroom as being the same type of program one is for image manipulation, the other for RAW development and photo cataloging - perhaps I'm wrong, though?
